That Girl

Here I go again with my age old poetry... If you don't know yet, I'm going to post a couple of old poems that I wrote through the years. Through the teenage years I think. I don't write poetry anymore. Or the excuse for poetry I had. Sometimes I'll tell you the story behind the poem... sometimes I don't remember... This specific one was written for a girl friend of mine. Who just decided I'm not good enough anymore. Strange thing is... she came crawling back to me 3 times after that. I'm too forgiving sometimes. But I never forget...

I see you sitting there,
You look so familiar.
Oh, I used to actually know you,
But not anymore.

Now you’ve got you own life,
And you just don’t give a damn
About a girl who’s just sitting there
Waiting for her life to end.

You never seem to notice that
The girl there is me.
You just turn your back and
Carry on, forgetting we ever met.

I thought you would appreciate
The things I did for you.
I gave you a whole new life
And friends who care for you.

I guess I didn’t realize that
Those friends would take my place.
So now I sit here all alone,
Just waiting for the end.

The poem is sooo sad :( It's hard to be taken for granted like that/

Oh yeah! Hopefully she won't do it again.. Coz I've had it with forgive and forget. Her chances are up. And a couple of other ppl's ...

This poem can be great lyrics for a song. Do you play any instrument? Maybe you can write the music for this as well.

Proof that women can be just as bad as men, yeah?

@Angel - You really think so?! Unfortunately I don't play an instrument but a very good galpal of mine does... Mmmmm... What an idea!

@Otherwordly - Definitely! No exception.

Sorry to hear that someone turned their back on you like that.

I remember back in high school or even junior high, new kids would come to school, and I was always their friend first, and then I'd introduce them around, and they became popular and I was left friendless, for them to later smile at a distance or forget I existed at all. None of them ever gave me a second chance, though i really don't think I offered one either. So, I can relate to this poem.

Sorry it's been awhile since I've visited, I have no excuses except that I'm lazy. =)

@Sid - Aw thanx.

@Hillbilly Duhn - So nice to see you around these parts again. I know the feeling you're explaining. I know I did the same thing a couple of times myself.

Wow--I can relate. I once had a best friend who said "You know how familiarity breeds contempt? Well, that's what happened."
